The Strangler Fig Tree:

Encounter the magnificent Strangler Fig Tree near the exit of the Ecosystem. This tree represents a huge "host tree" that has been colonized by several Strangler fig plants which have rooted on its limbs, sent roots down to the earth below, intertwined and eventually overtaken the older host tree.

Bright bromeliads crowd the treeĆs limbs, collect rainwater, and hoard nutrients from leaf litter. Insects, frogs, lizards, snakes and even tiny crabs make their homes in these living vases. Orchids, rare and wonderful, surround the Strangler Fig's branches. Their flowers entice bees, flies and butterflies for pollination.
